Nicholas Ondoro was born and raised in the Kibera slums of Nairobi Kenya. Kibera is the largest slum in Nairobi, and the largest urban slum in Africa. Nicholas currently holds a high school diploma which was sponsored by his parents; However, his parents unable able to further assist with advancing his education due to financial constraints and he has been forced to drop out of school. To make ends meet, Nicholas currently plays the drums for his local church and perform any other menial jobs he can find.
Nicholas needs our help to make his dream and passion become reality. He is very passionate about going back to further his education, and wants to be a beacon of hope to other children in his society. His goal is to obtain a degree in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and International Business Administration.
Our investment in him will not only be change in his life but also other children in the same slum he grew up in, as he is determined to help others just like himself with his education. Nicholas is scheduled to start classes January 2015 at Railway Training Institute to complete a foundation course in ICT for 2 years. His tuition per year will cost $450 dollars- 36000 Kenyan shillings (kshs), a laptop $560, books and transportation $165 a total of approximately $1,200.
